For many years, Deepthi and her mother were physically abused by their family before one of our outreach workers discovered them living in a slum. Today, after being educated at one of our Good Shepherd Schools, Deepthi is studying physics, chemistry, math and biology at a local university, earning the prerequisites to become a medical doctor!
Health & Meal Program
Too often, Jayan arrives at school hungry and without adequate lunch. But through our meal program, he receives a healthy lunch that includes an egg, milk and fruit—luxury items for a child like Jayan.
The Nandigaon Good Shepherd School began in 2008 in a small, rented house with 42 eager children sitting on the floor. Today, the school is educating 290 children from Kindergarten through Grade 7, in 15 classrooms. All of this was only possible because of caring donors and sponsors like you.
Laxmi married in Grade Seven and dropped out of school, leaving little chance of ever having a decently paid job. After her husband got hurt, she found our tailoring training centre, and was filled with hope as she graduated from the program with a new, dignified skill that empowers her to provide for her family.
