I hope you know how thankful I am for you. It fills my heart with joy to see how dedicated you are to helping impoverished children in India. Your support has changed so many lives, giving marginalized kids dignity and hope for their futures.
By helping these children make it through to graduation, you’re ensuring that they have the chance to pursue their dreams and to use their education to benefit impoverished people just like them. By giving children education, you are creating a ripple effect that will benefit generations to come.
What an incredible cycle to start!
The 2019 Freedom Campaign has ended and an incredible $152,384 was raised for marginalized children in India! That means 385 children will be able to attend a Good Shepherd School this year. That means 385 more children have now begun to dream of a brighter future for themselves and for their communities.
Thank you for giving freedom to impoverished children in India!
With a grateful heart,
Executive Director Dalit Freedom Network Canada
Your compassion is breaking the chains of poverty for vulnerable children in India. One of those children is a girl named Rani. She’s 16 years old, and she’s from AGS village in North India.
Rani’s parents are agricultural labourers. Unfortunately, work is never guaranteed. When there is work, they toil in the fields under a scorching sun, collecting minuscule wages.
At home, Rani lives with her parents, 2 brothers and 5 sisters. As you can imagine, with such a large family, it’s impossible for Rani’s parents to even dream of escaping poverty.
“My family has faced many struggles,” says Rani. “Before I attended AGS Good Shepherd School, I couldn’t see hope for me or my family.”
Sadly, few children get to attend school in her poor village.
Thankfully, Rani now knows her family has a brighter future on the horizon, thanks to generous donors like you who made her education possible!
“I joined AGS Good Shepherd School so I could make a better life for me and my family,” says Rani. “The school has taught me how that’s possible, not only for my family and myself but also for my whole community!”
In school, she’s learned a range of subjects, discipline and good study habits. She’s also experienced equality and learned about her God-given dignity. Rani says,
“I am very thankful for my school, all my teachers and for my supporters who’ve allowed me to go to school.”
Education has been a transformative gift for Rani. Passionate about giving back, she says, “I want to become a teacher when I grow up, so I can serve my community. There are still many poor children that are not going to school. I want to help change that.”
Rani is graduating this year!
Thank you for your incredibly generous support. You’ve made it possible for Rani to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher. She’s going to transform her community, and that all started because of you!
Every child deserves the chance to graduate. You can help provide education and help ensure all our students can make it to graduation, pursue their dreams and transform their communities!
See how your gifts have taken these schools from their humble beginnings, all the way to fully equipped, state-of-the-art schools that allow impoverished and marginalized children to study right up to graduation, giving them the chance to pursue their dreams!
Teachers at AGS Good Shepherd School take pride in their school’s humble origins. The school started in 1996 when a passionate teacher started offering lessons to a group of eager children under the shady protection of a tree.
Over time, their little community grew into four classes, beneath four different trees. No one imagined these classes would soon become one of the finest schools in the area.
Today, thanks to donors like you, there are more than 400 students, from six adjacent villages, studying from lower kindergarten to grade ten. Classes take place in a two-storey building, complete with fifteen classrooms, a library, a kitchen and a beautiful garden.
AGS Good Shepherd School was among the first Good Shepherd Schools to celebrate graduating students and this year 28 students graduated. Thanks to supporters like you, these students have earned freedoms and opportunities that weren’t available to previous generations. Thank you for your generous support!
